Walter H. Durfee & Co. Carved Mahogany Nine Tubular Bell Hall Clock, Providence, Rhode Island, carved floral and rosette finials above the bold arched hood with stepped dental molding, carved corbels flanking the composite brass dial with pierced center and spandrels, name boss reading "Walter H. Durfee Providence.," strike/silent lever, and Westminster/Eight Bells subsidiary dials, painted moon's phase in the arch, carved winged hour glasses above the fluted columns, and glass-front waist door, scalloped mid molding, winged shell and acanthus leaf decorated base, eight-day quarter-chiming on nine tubes movement, rear damascened plate stamped on top edge twice, as well as on the tubes, regulated by a pendulum and three brass-cased weights, ht. 97 in.
Condition
Condition: nice old finish, small chips found mostly on edges of the case, bottom board broken and separated from the case, movement complete but would benefit from an overhaul.
