Two Gerry Williams (1926-2014) Studio Pottery Casserole Dishes, New Hampshire, c. 1990, wax resist, one with brown glaze, the cover decorated with a band of rust-red curved vertical lines on a black ground, incised artist's signature, ht. 5 1/2, dia. 10, the other gray glaze, the cover decorated with a band of metallic black geometric figures on a black band, incised artist's signature, ht. 4 1/2, dia. 9 1/4 in.
Note: Williams was a nationally and internationally recognized master craftsman, teacher, lecturer, and author. He was the founder of The Studio Potter, a nonprofit membership organization, and editor of The Studio Potter Magazine, a journal about the aesthetics, technology, and history of pottery and about the personal lives of ceramic artists. On February 19, 1998, he was appointed as New Hampshire's first Artist Laureate by Governor Jeanne Shaheen. (New Hampshire State Council on the Arts)Condition
