Two 19th Century Survey Works. Herndon, William Lewis and Gibbon, Lardner, Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon, Washington: Robert Armstrong/A.O.P. Nicholson, 1854, two volumes, bound in black and purple cloth, blind-stamping on front and rear covers, gilt lettering on spine, illustrated throughout, each volume is accompanied by a separately bound group of foldout maps, (sunning to spines, fading and rubbing to boards, foxing, some tears to foldout maps), 9 x 6 in.; Stansbury, Howard, Exploration and Survey of the Valley of the Great Salt Lake of Utah, Washington: Robert Armstrong, 1853, bound in purple cloth, blind-stamping on front and rear covers, gilt lettering and stamping on spine, with illustrations and foldout maps throughout, accompanied by a separately bound group of foldout maps, (sunning to spine, rubbing to boards, some minor foxing), 9 1/4 x 6 in.
