Town of York Militia Dragoon Pistol, mid-18th century, 12 1/8 in., .68 caliber round barrel with ring decoration at the breech and partial proof marks on the left side, and slightly flaring muzzle; slightly curved convex double bridle lock with pointed tail, engraved below the pan "R/WATKIN," the edge of the steel with assembly number "XIIIII" and inside surface of the hammer with assembly numbers "XIIII," the sear with similar but somewhat indistinct assembly number; walnut stock with carved plateau around the breech plug tang, the inside of the lock mortice with assembly number "XIIII"; brass furniture including butt cap with short upward projecting ears, thumb piece, trigger guard with acorn finial, convex side plate with slot for belt hook at upper side nail hole, the inside surface with assembly number "X"; wood rammer with iron cap, overall lg. 19 1/2 in.

Condition
Condition: Iron has mottled brown toning with minor underying pitting; stock has scattered dings, dents, scrapes, possible wrist repair, and evidence of repair at the end of the forestock; brass is toned toa dark yellow; rammer not original.
