Single-owner Rolex Daytona Reference 6239 "Exotic" Dial Wristwatch, c. 1968, 200UPH engraved tachymeter bezel, black tricolor dial, full concentric turned subsidiary dials, creamy lume plots, signed screw-down crown, pump pushers, manual-wind caliber 722 movement, screw-back case, on a later oyster riveted bracelet, original Long's jewelers receipt dated "8/18" for $235, and inner and outer boxes, serial number 17819XX, dia. 36.5 mm.
Note: The consignor recalls purchasing this watch in 1970 or 1971; the Long's receipt does not record the year of purchase. In 1967 he traded a 1963 Triumph TR4 for a 1962 two-door Cadillac Eldorado convertible, and being financially secure at the time was in the market for a chronograph. He wasn't able to afford the stainless steel bracelet at the time so several years later he went back and purchased the appropriate example. This example is in a rare state of preservation with the untouched dial that has aged softly with its complete lume plots intact, and an undisturbed movement. It was opened by Skinner for the first time since its manufacture date, to both authenticate it and install a new case gasket.
