Single-owner Heuer Autavia GMT Mark I Reference 2446 Wristwatch, c. 1968, aluminum "Pepsi" bezel insert, black dial with flat concentric turned subsidiary dials, polished steel hands, white chronograph seconds hand, red GMT hand, smooth pushers, snap-back case still showing the Autavia/Heuer logo, serial number 110364, manual-wind Valjoux 72C movement, dia. 40.5 mm.
Provenance: Property of an amateur race car driver, pilot, and scuba diver, who purchased the watch in 1968 because, as he shared with his future wife on their first date (in a plane he was piloting), "the watch had the ability to serve the needs of all my hobbies": fit, form, and function.
Throughout their courtship he wore this watch proudly, while continuing to fly, dive, and race. As time went on it was replaced by a gold Movado to better fit his role in financial services at the Gillette Company at the Prudential Center, Boston. The watch has been stored, with attention, all the years since, a piece of Heuer history now ready for a new chapter.
Condition
Condition: winding setting and ticking. Appears to be an unserviced movement with no tool marks. Hands, bezel dial original and untouched. Chronograph resets as intended
