Simon Willard Inlaid Mahogany Tall Clock, Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1795, fretless hood over brass stop-fluted columns, roman numeral painted iron dial with raised gilt decorated spandrels, seconds bit, pierced hands, moon's phase in the arch and marked "S. Willard," brass stop-fluted quarter-columns flanking the satinwood inlaid waist door, period directions label attached to interior, flame mahogany veneered base with satinwood banding, all resting on ogee bracket feet, eight-day, time and hour-strike mechanism regulated by a brass-faced pendulum and two tin-cased weights, ht. 90 with finials.
Condition
Condition: signature good under UV light, period finials and winding key, fret and plinths cut down, case refinished, original directions label on interior door, inlay restoration to base, feet old replacements. Seating board with additioanl wood straps nailed to underside.
