- Lot Description
Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669)
Studies of the Head of Saskia and Others, 1636, an 18th century impression (Bartsch/Hollstein, 365). Signed and dated within the plate, four collector's marks (see below) and pencil annotations to verso. Etching on laid paper, image/sheet size 5 15/16 x 4 15/16 in. (15.1 x 12.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Good impression, trimmed to or just within the plate mark, minor handling creases, old hinges and residue to edges on verso.
Provenance: According to collector's marks, ex-collections of Le comte Wilhelm Heinrich Ferdinand Karl von Lepell (German, 1755-1826) (Lugt, 1672); Kupferstichkabinett, Staatliche Museen, Berlin (Lugt, 1606, 1632, and 2398). The last of their three stamps was used for duplicates.Condition
