Provenance: Purchased from M. Knoedler & Co., Inc., New York, by Mr. Seymour Feiring, Yonkers, New York, in 1951, as a gift for his mother, then by descent to the current owner.
N.B. The original purchase receipt accompanies the lot.
Estimate $20,000-30,000
The sheet has deckled edges, but it has been stretched so that the margins fold around a stetcher about 1/2 inch or more outside of the image. There are small tears caused by the stretcher to the margins at two of the four corners of the stretcher. A second sheet of paper is behind the original sheet on the stretcher. It is impossible to determine whether this second sheet is glue to the back of the first or not. The repair is about the size of a silver dollar and is to the left arm and sleeve of the right-most child.
