Hoffmaneske Szene, alternatively titled Hoffmaneske Märchenscene, 1921, the second (final) state, total edition of 110, published in Bauhaus-Drucke. Neue europäische Graphik. Erste Mappe. Meister des Staatlichen Bauhaus in Weimar (Kornfeld, 82IIc; Klee, 2714). Signed and dated/with work number "Klee 1921/123" in pencil within the image l.c. Color lithograph on smooth paper, image size 12 1/2 x 9 in. (31.6 x 22.7 cm), framed.
Condition: Margins approximately 1/2 inch, fading, toning to edges of sheet, hinged near upper corners, 3 1/2 inch crease to image l.l. with break to sheet at edge of margin, pinholes to upper and lower margins (probably for registration).
Provenance: From the Eleonore Austerer Gallery, San Francisco, 2002, to the current private Massachusetts collection.
N.B. The composition is based on a mixed media composition also from 1921.

The sheet measures 14 x 10 1/8 inches. The hinges are white adhesive tape, and old paper hinges are at the upper corners, pencil annotations and soiling to verso.
