Mills and Hicks's British and American Register, 1775 with Mention of General Thomas Gage's Return to England, printed by Mills and Hicks, Boston, 1775, 108 pages with pencil notation a front endpaper indicating the book's ownership by commander of the brig Sally Tompson, including an almanack for each month of 1775, lists of the officers of British regiments, Navy, and Marines located in and around Boston, lists of British nobility and government officials, Massachusetts government officials, general and staff officers of the British Army in America, officers of the Massachusetts militia, officers of the Boston Regiment, as well as lists of government and militia officials in New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island; the blank page opposite page 22 giving astronomical observations for the month of October with pencil notation regarding General Thomas Gage's departure for England reading "Octr. 10th embarked on board the Ship Prince George - Moon Commander from the long Wharf in Company with the Palias Transport having Genl Gage on board came to an anchor in Nantasket Road & saild thence about ten o'clock at Night.," additional pencil and ink sailing notations throughout, green Morocco cover, 4 3/4, wd. 3 in.

Note: After receiving news of the Battle of Bunker Hill, Lord Dartmouth recalled General Thomas Gage to England replacing him with Sir William Howe. Gage received the order for his recall on September 26, 1775, and left Boston on October 10.

Condition: Ex library with partial punched historical society ownership mark at lower right corner of title page and library sticker on front cover, book is intact and in good overall condition.
