- Lot Description
Mabel D. Bragdon (American, fl. 1890s-1910)
Hollyhocks, Nantucket. Signed "M.D. BRAGDON" l.l., identified and dated "...c. 1910" on a label from Hawthorne Fine Art, LLC, New York, affixed to the frame backing paper. Watercolor on paper, 14 x 10 in., framed. Condition: Tiny loss to l.l. corner, not examined out of frame.Condition
Condition: Framed dimensions are 24 x 19 1/2 x 2 inches.
The watercolor is framed so that all the edges are visible.
Frame with a label from Certified Framing, Loudonville, New York.
The clouds around the steeple have some darker colors which seem original to the composition rather than any toning, since the paper remains white in nearby areas that are not painted. There are two very small accretions that appear to be bits of paper at the c.r. edge.
