Luigi Manaresi (Italian, 19th/20th Century), After Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun (French, 1755-1842)
Copy of Le Brun's Self-portrait of 1790
Signed and inscribed "Luigi Manaresi Copio/Firenze/Galleria degli Uffizzi" on the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 38 3/4 x 31 3/4 in. (98.0 x 81.0 cm), in a carved Florentine-style frame with a label from Doll & Richards, Boston, affixed to the reverse.
Condition: Patch reinforcement, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.
N.B. Using the Doll & Richards archive finding aid, we can tell that the work order number C52566 indicates that the painting was in the gallery sometime between mid-June and early October, 1956, although the purpose for its being there cannot be known with accessing the records at the Archives of American Art.Condition
