Lou Stoumen (American, 1917-1991)
Times Square 1940, A Paper Movie, 1940, printed 1976, edition of 25 plus 3 artist's proofs, published by The Witkin Gallery, New York, and The G. Ray Hawkins Gallery, Los Angeles, in 1977. Numberd, signed, and dedicated "artist's proof...two/Lou Stoumen/..." in ink on the colophon, 13 of 18 prints numbered and signed "AP 2/3 Lou Stoumen" in pencil in the lower margin, 5 of 18 prints unsigned, each print stamped and annotated on the verso. Eighteen gelatin silver prints, 13 3/4 x 10 3/4 in. (35.0 x 27.4 cm) or reverse, each print housed within individual folders with printed captions, presented in original clamshell box.
Condition: Good.Condition
Condition: The following prints are numbered and signed: Times Square in the Rain, 6:45 AM, 7:17 AM, 11 AM, 2:30 PM, 4:40 PM, 5:30 PM, 7:30 PM, 8 PM, 9 PM, 9:20 PM, 11 PM, 12 Midnight.
The following prints are unsigned: 6:30 AM, 8:50 AM, 6:30 PM, 8:30 PM, 10:40 PM.
