John Whitehead Cherry Tall Clock, Haddonfield, New Jersey, c. 1825, swan's neck hood with concentric turned rosettes, rope-turned columns flanking the 13-in. roman numeral painted iron dial marked "John Whitehead Haddonfield," floral arch and spandrel decorations, pierced hand set, and a marked "Nolan & Curtis/Boston" false plate, full-length beaded edge waist door, stepped waist molding, paneled base, all resting on turned column feet, eight-day, time and hour strike movement, regulated by a associated weights, and a two-part pendulum, ht. 93 in.
Note: John Whitehead came to Woodbury New Jersey, then worked in Haddonfield, New Jersey from 1821-1830. Died in 1875.
Condition
Condition: old finish with some veneer shrinking on waist door. Waist door with slight warp.. Finial appears to be cut down, small wood loss around hood molding. Dial paint has some loss around the edges, and two posts. Original seating board, turned feet and bottom board appear original.
