Lot Description

Jens Quistgaard (Danish, 1918-2008) Desk for Lovig Dansk, Mount Kisco, New York, 1975, hinged gallery to top, four drawers, storage compartments to back, with key, with maker's brand, curved back over cord seat with tapered oval legs, ht. 34, wd. 63 3/4, dp. 28 3/4, work surface ht. 28 3/4 in.

Note: Quistgaard was a Danish sculptor and designer, known for his work for the American company Dansk Designs, where he was chief designer from 1954-85. From the mid-1950s his tableware and kitchenware designs became synonymous with Scandinavian modern and found their way into millions of homes in the United States, Europe and Japan. He was represented at major museums in Europe and the United States and many of his works are still produced today.

Condition

Condition: Some play to frame, work surface with faint water rings and a few scattered water stains, short section of veneer missing left side of work surface, one drawer pull damaged.
