James Smith (British, c. 1645-1731) and Others
Twelve Engravings depicting English Kings: William the Conquerer, William II, Alfre the Great, John, Richard II, Edward I, Edward IIIrd, Henry I, Henry IV, Henry V, Henry VI, and Henry VIII
Many inscribed "Jas Smith Sculp." in the plates, published date c. 1733.
Copper plate engravings, sight sizes 12 7/8 x 7 5/8 in. (32.5 x 19.2 cm), in matching frames.
Condition: Some with minor foxing, pale staining, rippling, King Alfred with a pinhole u.r., matted to within the plate marks, not examined out of frames.
Provenance: Peter Kennedy, London, Sept. 1993.
N.B. These engravings may relate to Histoire d'Angleterre by Paul Rapin de Thoyras, a multi-volume work published beginning in 1726.Condition
