Unsigned, inscribed "813" on the reverse u.r. and "1" on the reverse l.r., identified on an unattributed label affixed to the frame backing, titled by the estate of the artist (see below).
Watercolor and Chinese ink on paper, 18 x 24 1/2 in. (45.7 x 62.2 cm), framed.
Condition: Sheet hinged to mat with tape at upper edge on the reverse, pale toning, mat burn, foxing.
Provenance: The estate of the artist; Gleason Fine Art, Boothbay Harbor, Maine, April, 1995; to the current private collection, Maine, 2000.
N.B. The executors of the James Fitzgerald estate, Anne and Edgar Hubert, assigned titles and numbers to works left to the estate. They assigned the number 813 to this painting. Snow-capped Mountain is included in the James Fitzgerald Catalogue Raisonné as number 902, and is dated c. late 1950s. The work depicts Mount Katahdin in Maine. We would like to thank Robert L.
