Jameel Radcliffe (American, 20th/21st Century)From the Bush. Signed "JR" on the reverse. Oil on wood, 10 x 8 in., unframed.
Condition: Good.
Donated by the artist: "As a Boston native, it's impossible to not be inspired by the energy and life in the city. The lights, music, and nightlife are what really fuel my work. Being of Puerto Rican and Black descent leaves me with a large amount of culture to draw from, culminating in the paintings."
Note: Jameel Radcliffe is a native Bostonian with familial roots in Puerto Rico and the American South. His lived experiences in the city have deeply influenced his art. Jameel has allowed the sounds, smells, and energy from Boston to penetrate and inform his pieces. In 2011, Jameel began to exhibit his work. Later he received his BFA from Montserrat College of Art in 2017, where he studied painting and drawing. When he is not painting, he works with Boston public high school teens at Artists For Humanity. It is an opportunity to share his knowledge with a younger generation and also become inspired by their energy and excitement. He has most recently exhibited his work at The Flowering Rock and at the Epicenter in Boston.
