Figure pen and ink, on laid paper, sheet size 7 1/4 x 4 3/4 in. (18.6 x 12.0 cm), unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Creasing, soiling, foxing, sheet reinforced along edges of the reverse.
N.B. The drawings on the front and back of this sheet seem to be by different artists, the angels appearing to be by an amateur copiest and the seated man by a trained hand. The inscription may reference Domenico Beccafumi (Italian, 1486-1551).
Collector's embossed stamp on l.l. of
Angels is that of Comte Moriz von Fries (Austrian, 1777-1826), a Viennese banker and collector of prints and drawings (L.2903).
