Illinois Springfield Watch Company No. 1 Open-face Watch, Springfield, Illinois, 1871, enamel roman numeral dial marked "Illinois Springfield Watch Co.," sunk seconds, and blued-steel hands, movement inscribed "The First Watch Made by the Springfield Watch Compy/Dec. 23, 1871/No. 1/Springfield Ills.," foliate-engraved regulator, blued-steel screws, 18kt gold 18 size case with engraved back, stem-wind, stem-set Stuart movement, dia. 55 mm.
Estimate $10,000-20,000Condition: case is 14kt gold with a gold-filled cuvette, movement loss in case. Movement ticks but does not stay running.
