Note: Hugh C. Robertson was an American potter known for his glaze experimentation. Robertson apprenticed at the Jersey City Potter in 1860. In 1868, he worked in his father's shop in Chelsea, Massachusetts. In 1872 this shop was incorporated into the Chelsea Keramic Art Works (CKAW). In 1888, while at CKAW, Robertson worked ceaselessly to reproduce Chinese sang de boeuf glaze. In 1891 he established Chelsea Pottery, in Dedham, Massachusetts, which became the Dedham Pottery Company in 1895.

Condition: Body with crack that runs the full length of one side from lip to center of base and a second crack that runs opposite from lip to shoulder.
