Howard Bond (American, b. 1931)
Two Photographs: Twilight, Jackson Lake, Wyoming, 1968, signed "Howard Bond" in pencil l.r., the photographer's hand-stamp in ink, titled, dated, and editioned 35/150 in pencil on verso, gelatin silver print, image size 9 11/16 x 12 15/16 in. (24.6 x 32.9 cm), mounted, unframed; Buttresses, Taos, New Mexico, 1991, signed "Howard Bond" in pencil l.r., the photographer's hand-stamp in ink, titled, dated, and editioned 10/100 in pencil on verso, gelatin silver print, image size 12 15/16 x 9 15/16 in. (32.9 x 25.3 cm), mounted, unframed.
Condition: Minor abrasions l.l. and c.r. in Taos only visible in raking light.
N.B. Howard Bond studied photography with Group f/64 members Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, and Brett Weston. Their influence is prevalent in his large-format, sharply-focused photographs of the American West. Bond's photographs are published in two monographs, Light Motifs, which features detailed views of churches and cathedrals, and White Motif: The Cyclades Islands of Greece, a study of the whitewashed church buildings on the Greek Islands.Condition
