N.B. Robert Furber (1674-1756) was a renowned British horticulturalist. His most notable work was
Twelve Months of Flowers, published in 1730. The book was written as a catalog of plants and seeds, and featured twelve detailed engravings of seasonal plants in bloom. More than 400 species of plants were featured. Henry Fletcher produced each of the twelve hand-colored engravings from paintings by Peter Casteels. The plates were originally sold on a subscription basis for £1 5s in uncolored form, or £2 12s 6d for a hand-colored version.
Condition
Condition: Framed dimensions are 28 1/4 x 24 1/2 x 3 inches. A label from The Antiquarium, Antique Print & Map Gallery, Houston, Texas, and an encapsulated description of each work are affixed to the frame backing paper.
