Gustave Baumann (German/American, 1881-1971)
The Way of the Years, 1916. Signed or inscribed "by Gustave..." in pencil and with hand-in-heart chop l.r. Color woodcut on paper, image size 10 7/8 x 9 7/8 in. (27.5 x 25.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Sheet toned and colors attenuated, glued to a facing mat within the margins, sheet previously folded into eighths, tear to image c.l., glue and tape to verso primarily at the edges.Condition
Condition: In addition there are registration pin holes (as printed) to the upper and lower edges, minor tears and losses to edges. While the margins are largely glued to the facing mat as mentions, it is possiblt to see a small part of the lower margin, thus the mention of the signature. The sheet measures 12 x 11 in., and the frame is 19 x 17 5/8 in.
