Condition: Small holes, possible insect damage, creases, abrasions, minor staining, toning, lined onto a supporting sheet, affixed to back mat at three corners on the reverse.
N.B. The work was examined in the mid to late 1990s by William Robinson, then curator of drawings at the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and by Guercino expert David M. Stone and thought to be by Guercino's hand. The composition is closely related to a painting of God the Father attributed to Giovanni Lanfranco in the National Museum of Warsaw. In the painting God does not hold the scepter and leans His right elbow on a globe.

Condition: Framed dimensions are 17 3/4 x 15 1/2 x 3/4 inches, with a fragmentary Christie's label affixed to the backing paper.
