Georges Jules Victor Clairin (French, 1843-1919)
Colin-Maillard (Blind Man's Bluff)
Signed "Clairin" l.l., identified on a presentation plaque and on a label from Kurt E. Schon, Ltd., Vienna and New Orleans, affixed to the back of the frame.
Oil on canvas, 28 3/4 x 36 1/2 in. (73.0 x 92.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Lightly brushed retouch to the sky with further retouch or natural pigment fluorescence to the shadows on the dress of the reclining woman and the darker green leaves of the tree above her, puncture (1/4 in.) to l.l. edge, craquelure, varnish discoloration, reverse with an unfinished, partially effaced figure of a standing male nude.
Provenance: Collection of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Boston.Condition
Condition: Framed dimensions are 36 x 43 1/4 x 2 inches, with a second label from Kurt E. Schon, Ltd., New Orleans, on the back.
