Condition
Condition: An area of craquelure with lifting, flaking, and small losses to sky in u.r. quadrant to the right of the cliff, the overall area measuring 2 x 2 inches and consisting of three horizontal lines of craquelure. There is retouch applied over the left side of the top line. The lower line is less severe. A 3-inch line of retouch to the sky at u.l. corner. Five random dots of retouch to the sky and to the right side horizon, each measuring 1/2 in. to 1/4 in. in diameter. A larger area of retouch in center in the water beneath the cliff, consisting of horizontal brushstrokes forming an area measuring 6 x 3 inches.
Canvas with a stencil from Victor Claessens, Waereghem, Belgique, on the reverse. Stretcher also annotated in ink with the accession number 44.170.84
Framed dimensions are 28 x 33 3/4 x 1 inches.
