George III Sterling Silver Six-arm Epergne, London, 1763-64, David Smith & Robert Sharp, maker, with engraved armorial to each element, the central reticulated basket on a tapered collar surrounded by four short arms supporting dishes, two long arms with hanging baskets, and topped by a later sconce and bobeche, all on a stand with pendant floral swags on scrolled legs terminating in rocaille feet, total ht. 13 1/4 in., approx. 133.0 troy oz. (not including bobeches and sconces).

Central bowl and stand fully hallmarked. Collar, baskets, and dishes each with maker's mark and lion passant. Three short arms each numbered and marked with lion passant (numbered 1-3, one with repaired break to rim), the fourth lacking any markings (reworked at the peg-shorter and not marked). One long arm marked with lion passant and numbered 2 (area where sconce is joined is reworked to be a female joint), other unmarked with upright screw to end. Stand with one leg bent slightly, wobbles slightly. Scattered pinprick dents and abrasions. Central bowl with possible loss to outermost projecting elements to each end, footrim with minor dent.
