Friedrich Uhland "Smooth" Rifle, southeastern Pennsylvania, second half of the 18th century, 51 in., .64 caliber octagon to round barrel with wedding band decoration, the breech with engraved and silver inlayed simple scroll decoration and initials "IHGF" on the top flat, illegible mark on the left flat, applied rear sight and sighting groove, the muzzle with brass blade sight; reproduction single bridle lock with flat lock plate and pointed tail; figured walnut stock with slightly concave butt profile, line carved floral scroll decoration around the breech plug tang; brass furniture including a butt plate with faceted tang, pointed toe plate, trigger guard with reverse curl, side plate with floral engraved pointed tail, and engraved "C FRiDRiCH UHLAND," single line border engraving around the plate's perimeter, four faceted rammer pipes, and a sheet brass nose band; wood rammer, overall lg. 66 1/2 in.

Condition
Condition: Iron toned to a deep brown; some silver inlay missing from barrel; lock is a reprodution; stock has very minor scattered dings and dents, and is restored from just in front of the the second rammer pipe to the muzzle, brass is toned to a deep yellow, nose band and first rammer pipe are replacements.
