French Model 1733-style Cavalry Pistol with Charging and Ball Flasks, mid-18th century, 11 7/16 in., .70 caliber octagon to round barrel with stamped crown over intertwined "L" at the breech, iron blade front sight; flat double bridle lock with stepped tail, marked below the pan with a Saint Etienne mark of a fleur-de-lys and "SE" and engraved "JL/CARRIER," the inside of the lock plate stamped "I. BREVACHON"; walnut stock stamped "M" behind the lock mortice; brass furniture including a butt cap with ears, trigger guard with pointed leaf finial, side plate with pointed bead tail, two sheet brass rammer pipes, and a sheet brass nose band; wood rammer with iron cap; with a varnished pasteboard powder flask with brass measure cap, and a jacked leather ball flask with threaded leather cap, overall lg. 18 1/2 in.
Condition
Condition: Iron toned to mottled gray/brown with minor underlying pitting around the vent areas; lock hammer may be an old replacement, half-cock completely worn and will not hold on full-cock, side nails appear to be original; stock has small losses around the lock mortice, left side of forestock has a glued stock break from the entry pipe forward, tip of forestock from nose band forward has been reattached; brass toned to a deep yellow, ears of butt cap appear to have been shortened, rammer not original.
