Donated by the artist: "I work in the arts to experience the joy of creativity and to have an opportunity to share my curiosity with new audiences."
Note: Mark Stock, artist and founder of MiniCity.Art: As a young kid, I fell in love with math, then physics, then a few years later, found computer programming and combined the three. Ten years later in college, I found out that that combination could be a career. I also pursued landscape photography, creative computing, table-top war gaming, and 3D printing, and eventually I combined them in 2013 - that’s when TinyMtn was born. Now I have over 1000 different 3D printable models of mountains, canyons, ski resorts, and landscapes from around the world.
But I’d always loved architecture and buildings, and more recently appreciated the chaos and complexity of a city. We use more detailed and comprehensive data than anyone else, have over a decade of developing techniques for 3D printing, and bring a unique artist's sensibility to all of our work.
This is important because we believe that a city is more than just a skyline - it's a history, its people and decisions, it's the intertwining of millions of life stories manifested in concrete, brick and glass. You'll see and feel the shapes, the texture, and the chaos of urban life.
