Condition
Condition: Framed dimensions are 35 x 29 x 2 3/4 in. with fragmentary labels from R. Charpentier, Paris, and from P. Ferret, the Ferret label being inscribed "E. Girardet..." in ink and stamped "MULHOUSE 1899."
In taking extra photos to show condition, we discovered another Girardet signature painted over in the lower left corner, with a possible date below of "80." Pentimento of a fourth pigeon to the right of the group of two. And area of thinner pigment on the left side of the cloak of the seated man. Rippling to the corners could probably be rectified by keying out the stretcher. Craquelure is very fine and stable. Very slight frame abrasion. There is some minor damage/losses to the sides of the frame and one corner has a small split. No additional condition issues to report.
