Edward T. Note: Hurley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and studied at Xavier University and the Cincinnati Art Academy (1894-1898) under Otto Beck and etcher Frank Duveneck. Hurley was a member of the Cincinnati Society of Etchers, Ohio Print Makers, the Duveneck Society, The Crafters, and other artists’ societies. Like a number of other Cincinnati artists of the time, Hurley worked as a designer for Rookwood Pottery (1896-198). He received a gold medal for his work at the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904.
