Edmund Currier Gilt-front "Harp-pattern Timepiece" or Lyre Clock, Salem, Massachusetts, c. 1825, brass finial atop the roman numeral painted iron dial, barbed hands, hinged brass bezel, carved and gilt midsection with original reverse-painted tablet with American shield, lower door also with original reverse painted tablet reading "E. Currier/Salem," with floral motif, bold carved shell pedestal, eight-day time-only movement, weight baffle with butterfly brass tie-down, ht. 40 1/2 in. with finial.
Note: Edmund Currier worked in Salem Massachusetts from 1825-1853.
Condition
Condition: overall very nice state of preservation, original tablets with some paint loss, period replaced finial. Single piece mahogany backboard, through bolt movement attachment.
