Dutch School, 17th Century Style
Three Tavern Scenes: Man in Red Cap Filing His Pipe, Jovial Friends at a Table, and Smokers Gathered Near a Hearth. All unsigned. Red Cap and Friends oil on panel, Smokers oil on canvas, sizes to 11 x 9 in., Smokers framed, others unframed. Condition: Red Cap with losses and frame abrasions, surface imperfection with paint loss to his sleeve; Friends with overcleaning, retouch, losses, varnish inconsistencies; Smokers lined, with prominent craquelure, scattered losses, varnish discoloration.
Provenance: The estate of George Way, Staten Island, New York.
Condition: "Red Cap" on panel measuring 4 1/8 x 3 1/4 in., unframed.
"Jovial Threesome" oil on oval panel, 10 3/87 x 8 3/8 in., unframed.
"Smokers" oil on canvas, 11 x 9 in., framed to 14 7/8 x 12 3/4 x 1 3/8 in.
