N.B. Inscription reads "The man seized the sleeping child and took him captive. But the boy was not frightened. His innocence kept him free. Because he possessed nothing, nothing could be taken from him. Being without desire, he did not want. And since he knew nothing of death, he was not afraid of it. The man recognized in the boy all that he had once been, and a sweet affection grew between them. And when at last they freed the boy and took the man away, the boy felt a loss for the first time. Now he became a captive. He was innocent no more."
