Chopard 18kt Gold L.U.C. 16/1860/2 Wristwatch with Box, c. 1990s, no. 0016/1860, stepped bezel, solid gold dial with outer minute track, applied faceted hour markers, dauphine hands, guilloche-decorated center, concentric turned sunk seconds, and date at 6, 23-jewel caliber 1.96 C?tes de Gen?ve-decorated automatic movement, engine-turned 22kt gold micro-rotor, two stacked mainspring barrels, Breguet overcoil hairspring, swan's neck regulator, Glucydur balance, and marked with the Geneva Seal, additional display back, housed in its original fitted burl walnut box, dia. 37 mm.
Note: The project having started a few years earlier, it wasn't until 1996 that Chopard, with the help of independent watchmaker Michel Parmigiani, launched the high-end L.U.C. watch line using this reference, the 16/1860/2. The solid gold dials were produced by Metelem, the same Swiss dial manufacturer that produced Philippe Dufour's Simplicity watches. Some have compared the quality of the 16/1860/2 to the Simplicity and to Patek Philippe's caliber 240.
