Condition
Condition: evidence of inpainting to the man's face and shirt and background. There are areas of thinness (possibly due to overcleaning) and craquelure of the paint where the canvas shows through. the painting appears to have been varnished overall and is difficult to read under the blacklight. The painting was lined decades ago and it seems likely that the retouch, cleaning, and varnishing happened then.
