Note: Charles Greenough Chase, known as "Chippy," was an accomplished wildlife sculptor, having been named a Master Wildlife Artist in 1984 by the Woodson Art Museum in Wasau, Wisconsin, the first sculptor to be so named. Chippy was known to select the woods he used for his carvings very carefully, so as to have the natural qualities of the wood enhance the depiction of the animal carved. His work has been featured at the Smithsonian, the Farnsworth Museum, Bowdoin College Museum of Art, the Portland Museum of Art, and others.
