N.B. Charles M. Lesaar was born in Belgium as Carl Frederik Meyer-Lesaar. He studied at the Royal Academies in Antwerp and Dusseldorf, and he exhibited in Brussels and Antwerp. In 1912 Lesaar immigrated to Canada. He entered the United States in 1914, living first in Chicago and later in the San Francisco area, and also in Wisconsin. His exhibition history includes multiple shows at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 'teens and 'twenties, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1917 and 1926, and Oakland area venues in 1940.
