- Lot Description
Blue Transfer Eastern Port Pattern Bough Pot, England, c. 1813-1830, earthenware printed in blue underglaze, border design featuring crowns flanked by thistles and roses (representing Scotland and England), unmarked, attributed to John & William Ridgway, ht. 5, lg. 7 3/4, wd. 4 1/2 in.
Provenance: The Zeller Collection.
N.B. The Eastern Port pattern was inspired by an engraved print titled “View of Scio Anciently Called Chios, One of the Most Celebrated Cities in the Archipelago.” For more information see TCC Bulletin, Vol. XIII, No. 1, 2012, pp. 6-7 for an article featuring this pattern and source print titled “From Eastern Port to Eastern Garden Scene — the long way around!.”Condition
Condition: Very good condition with chip on the corner of the underside of the cover and light discoloration on the under side. No restorations; however, it has been cleaned.
