Assembled Royal Crown Derby Imari Palette Porcelain Dinner and Dessert Service, England, c. 1850-1925, pattern number 198: twenty-one plates, dia. 10 3/8, thirteen shallow bowls, dia. 10 1/8, twelve plates, dia. 8 3/8, ten cups and saucers in one form, six cups and saucers in another form, three oval platters, lg. 13 1/4 to 17 1/4; two each: square serving dishes, circular compotes on low feet, dia. 9 1/2, circular compotes on different bases, dia. 9 1/2, covered urns, ht. 5 1/4, and egg cups; oval basket, lg. 13, oval covered tureen, lg. 12 1/2, circular tureen, dia. 10 1/4, ovoid footed bowl, lg. 12 1/4, teapot, covered sugar, creamer, and covered circular butter dish; pattern number 524: two covered vegetable tureens and two oval serving dishes with handles, lg. 8; two canns and saucers in pattern number 50, coffeepot in pattern number 495, a squat baluster vase with stylized leaf tips to neck and body decoration similar to pattern number 198, ht. 4 1/4; and two pattern number 2451 pieces: a saucer dated 1939 and a two-handled cup dated 1966.
Provenance: Most of the current service was purportedly purchased at a Louis Joseph auction in Boston approximately sixty years ago, by members of the Winthrop family of the North Shore, descendants of John Winthrop, Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Light usage wear to polychrome enamel and gilt. Very few scattered knife marks. 8 3/8 in. plates: One with very small rim chip. One egg cup very heavily restored. Oval basket with rim chip. Oviod footed bowl with matrix of hairline cracks to underside of base. Teapot with hairline crack to inside of cover. Covered sugar with hairline crack to underside and rim. Butter dish with discolored restoration to one side.
