Approximately Sixty-seven Civil War Camp Letters, this group of letters, some with original envelopes included, touches on an array of topics including descriptions of the weather and the surrounding areas, the disciplining drunken soldiers, accounts of personal health or injuries as well as mentions of rampant illnesses in camp including typhoid fever, pneumonia, and measles, mentions of wounded, killed, or lost soldiers, descriptions of marching and making camp, complaints of little food or rations and a lack of blankets, tents, and other supplies, thoughts on the outcome and longevity of the war, complaints at the slowness or general lack of pay, opinions on the effectiveness of military and political leaders, and interactions with citizens, largest 12 1/2 x 7 3/4 in.
