The old gummed label on the back of the frame appears to read, "13744/A. Schreyer." The label has yellowed with age and has several old screw holes though it, making is somewhat difficult to be absolutely certain of the numbers.
A thin, horizontal line which is probably an old scratch located lower center in the water and measuring 13 inches across. There is no surface abrasion or loss in the area of the scratch, suggesting it may have happened prior to the lining and restoration, and the line is similar in color to some of the surrounding pigment. Areas of thin pigment, perhaps due to earlier overcleaning, noticeable in the foreground pool of water and in the center right of the sky. Small area of retouch presenting as a short vertical line, about one inch overall, located in the upper right edge. Some canvas deformation to the lower right corner.
Frame dimensions are 42 1/2 x 67 inches.
