Aaron Willard Jr. Patent Alarm Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, c. 1815, crossbanded mahogany case with hinged brass bezel, uniform cut head, roman numeral painted iron dial with faint signature markings, and barbed arrow hands, brass alarm hand, reverse-painted tablets, lower tablet depicting a city scene with an American flag atop a building, eight-day time and integral alarm, pitched-topped plate brass movement stamped "A. Willard Jr. Boston," fillister head screws for case attachment, recoil escapement, and alarm train all powered by a period lead weight and regulated by a brass-faced lead-backed pendulum, ht. 29 1/2 in.

Condition: lacking alarm bell, bottom board appears to be old replacement, throat glass old replacement, lower glass period but with crack and inpainting, upper portion of throat frame repaired
