A THREE PIECE QING DYNASTY STERLING SILVER TEA SET IN CASE, BY WANG HING & CO, HONG KONG, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each in stylized melon form and nicely detailed sides with applied three stages of blossoming prunus branches, opposite matching stages of flowering chrysanthemum stems and flanked by stages of iris foliage reversing to tall bamboo stalk clusters, raised on a conforming flaring foot and comprising a teapot with hinged slightly domed lid centering a ball tipped finial, flanked by a scrolling ear form hollowware handle opposite a stylized long neck crested bird form spout, height: 6 3/4"; a two scrolling ear form handled sugar bowl with matching removable lid opening to a silver gilt interior, height: 5 1/4"; a cream pitcher with an elegant everted spout and silver gilt interior opposite a hollowware ear form handle, height: 4 1/4", each verso stamped with retail silversmith's western initials "WH," silver purity "90," silversmith workshop's lantern form character marks, total approximate weight: 47.395 Troy oz; together with the custom two handled hardwood case opening to a fitted interior with ruffled blue silk and blue velvet lining trimmed in green, yellow, and aubergine twisted silk cord, with brass "4 / LEVER," lock hardware, height: 7 1/4" width: 16 1/4" depth: 14 1/4". Provenance: Private Asian Art Collector, Houston, TexasEach in good condition with the teapot having very light surface wear, one small leaf on chrysanthemum side lacking, bone heat spacers on handles have expected yellowing and old cracks, tarnish, and polish residue in crevices; the lidded sugar bowl has some very light surface wear, one possible small ding in chrysanthemum bloom that is difficult to find, tarnish, and polish residue; cream pitcher has a similar good surface condition, lacking very small leaf on chrysanthemum side, two small leaves on bamboo stalks, slightly bent on foot where metal is joined, tarnish and surface polish residue.
