Condition
The music mechanism appears to be in very good condition with some tiny oxidized spots scattered about, three music cylinders have surface buildup but nine have been wrapped in 1980 London newspapers and after partially unwrapping one we discovered it was best to leave them wrapped as it was in pristine sparkling condition. The Louis XV style Bonheur-du-Jour style case is beautifully constructed and in very good restored condition with nicely gilt bronzes and ebonized wood having but a few edge nicks and some light surface scratches. The music mechanism was cranked once and played. Simpson Galleries does not guarantee musical box mechanisms. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
