Note: LEBOLT & COMPANY - one of Chicago, Illinois' longest family owned silversmith companies that started when J. Meyer Lebolt (American 1868-1944) opened a silversmithing department in his jewelry store in 1912. This department focused on handwrought hollowwares at first such as tea sets, trays, bowls, pitchers, etc then added lines of handwrought flatwares and eventually had a sizable amount of silversmiths as well as designers employed. The earliest marks for silver were "LEBOLT / HAND MADE," which later was altered to "LEBOLT / HAND BEATEN." Debolt's Art & Crafts style silverwares were retailed in Chicago on State St, New York on Fifth Ave, and during the 1920s a retail establishment was opened in Paris on the Rue LaFayette but appears to have been primarily for pearls and jewelry. Provenance: From the Estate of Hazel Dawn, Manhattan, New York.
