A GUSTAV BECKER CARVED WALNUT WALL CLOCK, MARKED, GERMAN, 1877-1926, with three vasi-form turned finials on a stepped cornice centering a maiden's mask flanked by baluster form pilasters and stylized florets, over rectangular molded trim and a hinged door with two turned pilasters flanking a circular window within applied corner leaf spandrels, opening to a circular almond colored enamel ring dial with black stylized Arabic numerals enclosing blued and reticulated cut steel hands on a gilt blossoming foliage repoussé face with twin key escapements, suspending a five steel rods on three steel rods pendulum with brass spacers and ending in a circular repoussé bob matching the dial face, verso spring driven brass clock works stamped with two circular pastilles flanking pendulum suspension arm stamped "D.R.P.," left side "GUSTAV BECKER / G B (crowned anchor logo) / FREIBURG / IN SCHL," opposite a pastille "MEDAILLE D'OR" encircling a cross, brass panel numbered "P42 / 723834," interior mounted with a shaped rectangular iron plaque cast in relief as a two spire domed building within corner trefoils, continuing as a long iron reed to a shaped rectangular plaque with trefoil corners and central initials G B flanking an anchor over "Dom Gong" and gold painted highlights throughout, verso old German printed paper instructions regarding gong above a Gustav Becker black ink stamped logo of a crowned anchor flanked by G B, verso front glass covered pendulum well within side brackets suspending turned pendants and side circular brass wall stabilizers, over a tapering molded base and conforming scrolled edge back panel, includes winding key. Condition
Good condition with some normal light scratches, a few age cracks, walnut veneer is a bit dry and needs a good hand waxing, some old repairs, light surface rust on dial hands and interior gong, some loose wood decorative case parts and surface buildup in areas throughout.
